How this works: Brightwell Alkalin8.3 raises alkalinity by 1.4 dKH per 1 mL added per gallon (3.785 L). For tanks under 100 gallons, dose into a high-flow area. For new tanks or tanks below 6 dKH, halve this dose and re-test in 12 hours.

How this works: Brightwell Calcion-P raises calcium by 18 ppm per 1 g added per gallon. Always predissolve in RO/DI water before adding. Never dose dry powder directly. If your alkalinity is below 7 dKH, raise alk first — calcium and alk consume each other.

How this works: Standard BRS recipe maintains a 1:1 ratio between Part 1 (alk) and Part 2 (calcium) consumption. Each 1 mL of Part 1 raises alk by 1.05 dKH per gallon. Always dose Part 1 and Part 2 at opposite ends of the tank, never together. Split into 4–6 doses per day if possible — a doser is the easy answer.

How this works: Reef salts vary slightly, but the working average is about 0.5 lb per gallon to hit 1.025 sg. Always mix in RO/DI water, never tap. Let the new salt mix circulate and warm to tank temperature for at least 12 hours before using for a water change.

Brands occasionally reformulate their products — always verify against the bottle in your hand. New tanks, tanks under 50 gallons, and tanks with parameters outside the normal range should always start at half the calculated dose and re-test in 12 hours. When in doubt, ask us at the shop.
